Joaniko Kohchi, MPhil, LCSW, IECMH-E® is the Director of the Institute for Parenting and Postgraduate Programs in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy at Adelphi University, where she enjoys teaching and supervising graduate and postgraduate students as well as clinicians in the community. She is an endorsed Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health MentorⓇ with clinical, academic, and nonprofit experience spanning several regions of the United States. Her clinical work focuses on children and families who have survived traumatic events often leading to out-of-home care and court involvement. She is a trainer of Child-Parent Psychotherapy and a facilitator for the Diversity Informed Tenets for Work with Infants, Children and Families as well as Circle of Security ParentingTM. Ms. Kohchi served on the board of the Louisiana Infant Mental Health Association from 2000 to 2005, when it had to pause due to Hurricane Katrina, and subsequently moved to Tennessee, where she was an officer on the board of Circle Modern Dance from 2008-2011, and an original member of the Tennessee Infant and Early Childhood Mental Initiative, which brought together interested parties across the state and formed the earliest foundations for what became AIMHiTN in 2015. Since moving to New York City in 2012, Ms. Kohchi has been a member of NJ-AIMH and the New York Zero-to-Three Network, serving in various leadership positions for the latter from 2014 to present. When NYS-AIMH was formed in 2016, Ms. Kohchi was one of the first six people to be endorsed in the state, and continues to volunteer with both NYS-AIMH and the Alliance.
