Marilyn Barge holds a doctorate from Tulane University School of Social Work, a master's degree from Temple University, and a bachelor's degree in Social Work from Temple University. She also has a Pre-K-12 School Counseling certification from Rosemont College. With over 20years of experience, Marilyn has dedicated her career to supporting families and children affected by poverty, specializing in Early Childhood Mental Health and poverty justice advocacy. She is Trauma Informed certified and has over a decade of experience advocating for behavior all health services for individuals with autism.
Marilyn is an active member of the National Association of Black Social Workers (NABSW), where she co-chairs the regional conference training. She also serves as Vice President of the Alumni Board at Temple University's College of Public Health and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Pennsylvania Association for Infant Mental Health (PA-AIMH). Marilyn has served as a teaching fellow at Tulane University School of Social Work, where she has taught social work at both undergraduate and graduate levels and led training for new social workers with a focus on social justice.
Marilyn has been involved in planning and teaching about the importance of infant mental health from birth through age 8. She supports professionals in identifying and addressing the mental health needs of young children and their families. Currently, she is organizing the Southeast region's Infant Mental Health Breakfast to support professionals and stakeholders in addressing the mental health needs of young children and their families, with a focus on reflective supervision strategies.
In January 2024, Marilyn joined Your Voice Heard, LLC and is delighted to contribute to such an esteemed organization. Her involvement reflects her ongoing commitment to advocacy and education in the field of mental health.
